| Philippine Airlines, or affectionately called PAL, was born during the early years of World War II and has endured a lot over the years. PAL was very helpful to the United States during that war with a variety of air duties. PAL highly values strength and character and it isn't really all that surprising since these are traits valued by the locals of the home country as well. Since the turn of the twenty first century, Philippine Airlines has had some troubles, not the least of which is receivership. Thankfully that is over with and they have freed themselves of the legal status and moved on to grow and see better days.
Philippine Airlines' fleet includes Airbus A320 family class carriers and currently totals around 38 aircraft. Two Boeing 777-300 ER (Extended Range) fleet carriers are also part of their fleet. This is the largest twin-engine long-range jetliner currently being manufactured. This aircraft has unparalleled fuel economy and reliability. No other airliners can measure up to the Boeing 777-300 ER in any way. This airliner boasts increased levels of space increasing the passengers comfort. The payload weight and effective flying range are superior as well, on this carrier.
In 1992 a Filipino entrepreneur by the name of Lucio Tan, financed a bid that made it possible to buy Philippine Airlines, Inc. The interesting part of that is he did it in secret and unknown to the existing Philippine government. Then, in 1995, Tan was appointed as chairman of PAL. Philippine Airline's was new to private ownership when those events took place in 1992. Ever since then, PAL has had its ups and downs right alongside the rest of the world and the Asian financial sector. Airlines, as a business, are very hard to run. These companies do not enjoy the profit margins that other kinds of companies and businesses do. Since they worked through their receivership (in the later part of this decade), however, they are moving on.
Both the Pacific Rim and the mainland Asian markets were hit hard by the Asian financial crisis. In 1998, Philippine Airlines was placed under receivership due to financial hardship. Of course they had to forfeit many of their established destinations simply due to the inability to service them.
But they have been slowly climbing back and reclaiming many of the destinations they had lost. In 2007, PAL began to aggressively rebuild their business as they were finally able to exit receivership. As has already been mentioned, they now own 2 Boeing 777s, the most advanced airlines in the world.
It's clear that Philippine Airlines is a wonderful airline for lots of other reasons as well. They are heavily involved with humanitarian services throughout their country. The social conscience PAL displays isn't displayed, as far as we know, by any of the other airlines out there. In addition to that, there are lots of great programs that their customers can feel free to take advantage of. PAL seems to truly express their appreciation to those who make their business successful. When I'm no0t trying to figure out how to attract money I like tallking about Philllippine Airlines. |
